The Lillian Lectures
Author: Wendy Agnew
Publisher: Coach House Books
Hide under your bed! Are You There, God? It's Me, Margaret meets South Park in The Lillian Lectures, a collection of short poems and cheerfully nasty illustrations that will turn your universe on its head. Remember how strange you thought sex and God were when you were little? Six-year-old Melanie is weirder and naughtier than you ever were, and now she's passing her wealth of wacky wisdom on to her little sister, Lillian. Your mom would never let you play with them, but you sure would have wanted to; Melanie is the ultimate bad influence.

Between the Sheets
Author: Julie Prestsater
Publisher: Createspace Independent Pub
The passion between Mel and Ty is undeniable. But do they have the love to go the distance? Melissa Cruz has been in love with Tyler Gelson, her best friend's Sex God of an older brother, since ... well, since forever. She's let Tyler slip away in the past, her fears getting the best of her. But this time, this time she is determined to get what she wants and what she wants is a second chance at love. There is only one problem. Tyler lives miles away. Is love worth packing everything up and leaving her family and best friend behind? Tyler Gelson has admired his little sister's spitfire of a friend, Melissa Cruz, since the day she brought her home. Over the years he watched her turn from gangly kid into one hell of a hot woman and he has definitely taken notice. He has fallen and he has fallen hard. But with love comes decisions and he may have to make the biggest one of all. Is love worth leaving his dream job and moving back home? When unexpected news comes their way, will a long distance relationship be too much to handle? Or will these soul-mates prove that the love they share is more than just what happens Between The Sheets? (Although, that's pretty damn good too.)
First published in 1986, this work challenges underdevelopment analyses of Africa’s past experiences and future prospects, and builds upon a very wide range of recent historical research to argue that the impact of Capitalism has resulted in economic progress and significant improvements in living standards. In marked contrast to the dependency approach, they propose that the important political and economic differences between the experiences of developing countries should be stressed and analysed. The argument is supported by a detailed look at the emergence since 1900 of capitalist social relations of production in nine different countries.
This work began with 12 months of field work in Australia between June 1968 & June 1969. During approx. 46,000 miles of travel the authors obtained data at 905 different localities, & visited all of the major Australian collections. Material in the European museums was examined on the return trip to the U.S. & many types were borrowed later. The National Insect Collection at Canberra subsequently sent their entire collection of crickets for further study & the Univ. of Queensland sent a major part of their collection. This work includes 492 species of which 376 are new. These species are arranged in 85 genera of which 41 are new. Fourteen previously published names are synonymized & 17 names are treated as ¿nomina dubia.¿ Illustrations.

The Female Nude
Author: Lynda Nead
Anyone who examines the history of Western art must be struck by the prevalence of images of the female body. More than any other subject, the female nude connotes `art'. The framed image of a female body, hung on the walls of an art gallery, is an icon of Western culture, a symbol of civilization and accomplishment. But how and why did the female nude acquire this status? The Female Nude brings together, in an entirely new way, analysis of the historical tradition of the female nude and discussion of recent feminist art, and by exploring the ways in which acceptable and unacceptable images of the female body are produced and maintained, renews recent debates on high culture and pornography. The Female Nude represents the first feminist survey of the most significant subject in Western art. It reveals how the female nude is now both at the centre and at the margins of high culture. At the centre, and within art historical discourse, the female nude is seen as the visual culmination of enlightenment aesthetics; at the edge, it risks losing its repectability and spilling over into the obscene.
Asia Pacific Fusion
Author: Yōichi Funabashi
Publisher: Inst for International Economics
Japanese journalist Yoichi Funabashi has written the first in-depth study of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum based on extensive interviews with heads of state and government officials in the region. A key force behind APEC, he argues, is a potential "fusion" of Asia Pacific civilizations propelled by the region's dynamic economic integration. He recounts APEC's six-year history, assesses its potential, and examines the power politics of the region. Released just before the Osaka summit hosted by Japan, this book looks closely at Japan's interests in APEC and its relations with countries in the region. It will provide an intellectual framework for discussion at Osaka and beyond of Japan's role in APEC.
