When molding with a machine that has no closed- loop control, the most
generally accepted molding practice is to mold with enough pressure on the first
stage or high volume pump to fill and pack the cavity as shown in Fig. 7-68. The
first-stage pressure is initiated at the start of the injection cycle and is maintained
by the first-stage timer. This timer is set with enough time available so that the
mold cav- ity(s) can be completely filled and packed before the timer has
completed its cycle.
