When molding with a machine that has no closed- loop control, the most
generally accepted molding practice is to mold with enough pressure on the first
stage or high volume pump to fill and pack the cavity as shown in Fig. 7-68. The
first-stage pressure is initiated at the start of the injection cycle and is maintained
by the first-stage timer. This timer is set with enough time available so that the
mold cav- ity(s) can be completely filled and packed before the timer has
completed its cycle.

Polyoxymethylene (POM) belongs to the group of high performance engineering
polymers with a set of excellent properties, including great tensile strength and
stiffness, high toughness, good resilience, and low surface friction. ... To improve
the performance of processed POM parts, “inprocess morphology control”
concept has been introduced, in which the prolonged oscillating shear field is
imposed on the polymer melt during the packing stage of injection molding,
resulting in a high ...

Most plastic parts are fabricated by thermoforming, extrusion, or injection molding
. In thermoforming and its variants ... The resulting part typically exhibits thickness
distributions from 10 to 90% of the initial sheet thickness, with mold cycle times
varying from 15 seconds to 5 minutes per part. ... The continuous extruded part is
fed through a series of cooling molds to maintain and set the part geometry, after
which sections are cut to length while the extrusion process continues. Extrusion
